The wood boasts an untouched, deeply oxidized natural patina with beautiful edge wear. Fascinating remnants of the original leather carry strap remain pinned to the sides.

The dense, heavy soapstone core is intact and retains its original hand-formed iron wire pull-cradle, which allowed the hot stone to be safely slid into the protective ventilation box. This is a complete, untouched specimen of early nineteenth-century household survival technology, rarely seen imported or offered locally.
